Hillsborough's New Arena

Sheffield Wednesday FC recently installed a state of the art Emergency Response System, which looks more at home in a Bond movie.

Arena Sentinel is the software creation of Anglo Swedish company, Sakerhetspartner.   Just by clicking on screen icons, it produces a three dimensional navigable plan of the entire stadium and simultaneously allows the activation of an emergency plan for any area, significantly improving response times to a risk threat.

Most importantly, it can be viewed remotely by the safety management personnel as well as the Fire Service and Police, during a major incident.

“We are the first club in the Championship to take on this system and believe we are the pathfinder for many, as the Football Safety Officers’ Association has endorsed the concept.   We quickly came to the decision that it would enhance our safety operation and the quality of care and protection available to our supporters,” Operations Manager, John Rutherford commented.

“I think that this is a very positive move which will contribute to our ambition of making Hillsborough one of the best grounds in the country.”

Lol Foster, Director of Emergency Planning at Sakerhetspartner, had this to add:

“Our Systems are in service with Government bodies and private industry on four continents, protecting assets from oil rigs to hospitals and high rise buildings. We are delighted to support this historic football club and look forward to working with them during the future development and, hopefully, the World Cup in 2018.”

Arena Sentinel is also installed at Everton FC and Sakerhetspartner is keen to develop systems at other Clubs.

Lol Foster is an Affiliate Member of the FSOA and said:

“We have developed a unique partnership with the FSOA and believe strongly that Arena Sentinel will be of great interest to safety officers throughout the UK.”
