ICTS-GIS Continue To Perfect Their Exacting Standards By Achieving An (NVQ) National Vocational Qualification - First!
ICTS-GIS are being trained and assessed through the NVQ Qualification by the Derby based security training organisation, Repton Training Limited. The traditional drug and explosives search dog teams are currently undertaking the NVQ Level 2 in providing security services. This is the first time the qualification is being applied to specialist search dog work. The NVQ is a nationally recognised qualification. The work based assessment programme, which is constantly being updated, gives the handlers an uptodate qualification to add to their already impressive portfolio of skills and previous achievement and accreditations. This programme is part of the ongoing commitment of ICTS-GIS to maintain a high standard of operation and regularly update their knowledge and accreditations to maintain the ‘commercial edge’ when working with both existing and new clients.
The NVQ is 85 % observation based qualification which allows the learners to demonstrate their under pinning knowledge, share skills through training sessions alongside other handlers, who are from a diverse range of back grounds and working environments through training sessions and operational deployments. This then allows the students to naturally demonstrate the required skills outside of the class room, making the qualification ‘learner lead’, rather than simply academically driven. This provides the Assessment Team with an accurate indication of the students’ needs and requirements.
Comments Joanna Mileham, Assessor from Repton Training Limited “To date the handlers have demonstrated excellent skills and a keen willingness to take part; currently they are halfway through their qualification."
