The Cost of Policing Football Matches

On 20 July 2009 the House of Commons Home Affairs Committee published its report entitled 'The Cost of Policing Football Matches'.

The report looked at the current methods used by police authorities to calculate the costs of special police services and makes a number of recommendations.  It followed evidence, both written and oral, that was submitted by the Premier and Football Leagues as well as by a number of clubs.  Similarly, evidence was also submitted by the police.

The cost of police officers has risen dramatically in recent years and the determination of costs has often been a bone of contention for clubs and safety officers.

FSOA members can read and download a copy of the report by logging into the Members Area and clicking through to the Forum.
