Is This A Coup, Is This Enough?

The Manchester Evening News reported over the weekend that 2 Manchester City fans were successfully convicted of verbally and racially abusing City’s own players when the Blues played AFC Bournemouth on 1 December 2018.

Both received 5-year banning orders and a combined 450 hours of unpaid community service. One, James McConnell also received a 16-week suspended prison sentence.

Are these punishments enough? It is often difficult for us to enforce banning orders as those with them often get friends to purchase match tickets for them and we have to rely on spotters or CCTV staff to recognise them.
