Your Finance Officer made a difference when he attended a charity event in Brighouse, West Yorkshire to support the homeless of Calderdale and in particular Calderdale Smartmove.

Donating a Jack Charlton collage of photos, signed an authenticated by the big man himself, Peter reports ” This was a fantastic evening which raised close on £5000 for the charity. My donation raised in excess of £100. It was a night very similar to our own Conference Dinner, with James Mason playing Andy Ashworth’s role as host and the main engine behind the auctioned items. The comedy element was provided by Lea Roberts, a friend of the FSOA and a local son of Calderdale.

Roger Davies, an excellent singer/songwriter and great friend of mine from Brighouse itself performed a number of his West Yorkshire-based songs including The Ghost of Lily Fogg, Huddersfield Town, Peter Brook’s Paintings and Brighouse on a Saturday Night. Roger is always well received and with his band will be an essential component of The Brighouse Arts Festival, where in addition to his music there will be an exhibition of his paintings which were featured and won a competition on the BBC.

The “evening with” featured Peter Jackson, famous around these parts as well as in Newcastle. Peter played for Bradford City at the time of the Fire and attended many of the funerals. He flew home from a holiday in Greece to be part of this event and was flying back the following day.”
