Night Time Industry Also Warning of Staff ShortagesPeter Houghton
Following on from our close work with the UKCMA, warning of potential shortages in the supply chain of stewards and SIA Door Supervisors, the United Kingdom Door Supervisors Association (UKDSA) has written to Home Secretary, Priti Patel and Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industry Strategy, Kwasi Kwarteng to highlight the potential effect on the Night-Time Economy.
As our pubs and clubs start to re-open and stadium events and green-field sites publicly announce events, there is a fear that there will not be enough Door Supervisors to cover all positions. This comes hard on the heels of the representations made by the UKCMA and the FSOA to the wider stakeholders.
The UKDSA has also advised of the migration of operatives from door supervision to manned guarding which, unless new recruits come on stream quickly, will add to the problem. The letter from the UKDSA also requests a stay-of-execution as far as the proposed educational updates from the SIA in a bid to encourage more people to apply.
