Club Vacancy

Operations & Safety Manager (Including Event Safety Officer)

Encompassing all aspects of:

  • Health & Safety – Including all policies, procedures and safe to operate practices
  • Matchday / Event Safety – Including all aspects of event safety and the implementation and testing of Event Contingency Plans
  • Training and development of safety staff
  • Multi-site facilities management – Including site cleaning, maintenance, testing and inspections
  • Project management – Relating the upgrading / new additions to the site buildings

Salary: Depending on experience and qualifications

Start Date: ASAP

Hours: 40 Hours per week minimum, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays

Holidays: 28 days per year (20 days plus the 8 official Bank Holidays)

Role Requirements

Essential:

  • Must hold as a minimum standard the NVQ Level 4 Qualification in Spectator Safety Management
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in Event Safety Management, in particular the safe management and control of regulated football matches
  • Must hold a relevant Health & Safety Qualification such as NEBOSH or IOSH
  • Must hold a minimum of 2 years’ experience of managing all aspects of Health & Safety at a professional football Club at a senior level
  • Must demonstrate experience of managing the legally required testing, maintenance, and annual inspections as per the defined legislation
  • Must hold a competent understanding of the Guide to Spectators Safety 6th Edition ‘Green Guide’
  • Must hold a competent understanding of the IEEE 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
  • Must hold a competent understanding of the Regulatory Reform Order 2005
  • Must be experienced in writing and producing policies and procedures relating to Health & Safety
  • Must have experience of leading a diverse group of people and demonstrate managerial capabilities
  • Must demonstrate experience of representing organisations on official bodies such as the Safety Advisory Group and adopting a multi-agency approach towards Event Safety
  • Must have experience of Health & Safety audits, compliance and dealing with regulatory bodies such as the LFE, EFL and FA
  • Must have previous site / facilities management experience
  • COSHH qualified
  • Experience of writing Event Contingency Plans and the testing of them via live training and desktop exercises, in partnership with the Emergency Services and Local Authority
  • Experienced in writing Risk Assessments, Method Statements (RAMS), assessing contractors RAMS and the issuing of Permit to Work orders (Including Hot Work Permits)

Desirable:

  • NEBOSH General Certificate qualified
  • Hold a relevant qualification in Fire Safety Management and Fire Risk Assessments
  • Member of the Institute of Leadership & Management
  • Hold an understanding of the ‘Purple Guide’ for the Health, Safety and Welfare at Music and other Events
  • Completed Training in: Fire Safety, Fire Safety Management, Fire Marshall, COSHH, Asbestos Awareness, Manual Handling, Noise Awareness, Working at Heights, Ladder Safety and Legionella Awareness
  • Completed EFL Safeguarding, Equality & Diversity Training
  • An understanding of the Appraisal of Existing Structures 3rd Edition
  • Experience of COVID-19 safety protocols relating to Spectator Events
  • Project Management experience, supported by a project management qualification such as Prince2 or equivalent
  • Experience and understanding of the Local Authority Planning Application process
  • Experience of working with the Licensing Act 2003 and working with the Local Authorities Licensing Department and Local Police Licensing Officer on new applications, variations and adherence of the various licences held by the Club or partner organisations
  • First Aid at Work qualified
  • Experienced in all aspects of maintenance and repairs, with capability in an emergency situation to be hands on

 

This role is exempt under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, all convictions must be declared. Additionally, an Enhanced DBS is required to be in place before the post commences, with appropriate reference checks having also been completed.
