Return of the Regionals?Peter Houghton
FSOA Chair and East Midlands Regional leader, Paul Lewis hosted the first FSOA Regional Meeting for over 2 years at Leicester City’s King Power Stadium yesterday.
A number of safety officers convened to discuss the areas in stadium safety which are and will cause us concerns, especially as the vote to invoke mandatory covid-checking at our turnstiles was taking place in at Westminster at more or less the same time.
It was interesting if intimate gathering with most leagues represented from PL to NL. The challenges remain the same even though at different levels.
The idea was that this to be the “prototype” for getting face-to-face regional meetings back on the FSOA agenda, but with the announcement from Parliament looked to have put some more spin on it.
At Leicester, the Club had the correct procedures in place upon entry and the meeting was able to take place in a socially distanced environment.
Depending upon how things play out going forward after the New Year, we will be asking Regional Chairs to seek to put together meetings in their area as we prepare for the AGM & Conference in March.

Our thanks mainly to Vicki Newby for arranging and hosting the hospitality. It was also good for Paul Cook to drop in among a Premier League online meeting.
