Ruth Shaw Stands Down As Chair of the SGSAJohn Newsham
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am writing to inform you of organisational changes at the Sports Grounds Safety Authority.
As you will know, Alan Coppin was recently appointed as Chairman of the SGSA and he is in the process of recruiting a new Chief Executive. My secondment is ending and I am returning to central government in May to a role at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. It’s been an amazing four and a half years for me and I’ve really enjoyed working with so many experienced and committed professionals. I will be very sorry to leave, but I am delighted to inform you that SGSA colleague Rick Riding has been appointed as Acting Chief Executive with effect from 1 May. I know that the SGSA will continue to deliver excellent services and strong partnerships under Rick’s leadership.
We expect a new permanent Chief Executive will be in post by September, and Rick will be working closely with Alan, the team and our partners to prepare for his or her arrival. One of the ways in which we are getting ready is by asking stakeholders about what works and what could be improved in terms of SGSA services and information. If you have views and the time to spare we would be grateful if you could complete the online satisfaction survey to help us ensure that now and in the future we’re doing the best job we can.
If you have any questions please feel free to get in touch with me or if you would like to contact Rick directly please feel free to email him at email@example.com
